Laelia sincorana var. semialba coerulea
Laelia sincorana has many qualities, among which a small size plant allied to a huge flower of generally reasonable shape. One of the photos shows the flower, the plant and my thumb (not green thumb, as can be seen  !!!) just for comparison… take a look at the flower size and the plant size - the flower can be 5.2" wide while the plant 4.4" high! This species lives in the wild in the Serra do Sincora (hence sincorana), a mountain range in the middle of the State of Bahia, Brazil. The leaf protects the developing bud, just like Laelia pumila. It has a few known varieties, all of them seldom seen around (alba, coerulea, concolor and a so called rubra). I bought three seedlings of a selfing of the coerulea variety, this being the first to flower. Just beautiful!
