Cutting part of non-blooming spike back on Phal...
3 Attachment(s)
This is a newly purchased Phal. orchid from Trader Joe's...it had three open blooms and the rest of the spike had about five or six unopened blooms...within a few days it was noticed that they had gotten the dreaded bud blast...they were cut off but now the question is should I just cut that whole part of the spike back...and just leave the ones that are in bloom? or just leave the spike?
I feel it is un-needed energy going to that part of the orchid when it can be going somewhere else.... I am posting a few pictures here... thanks for reading... -Romina |
I'd just leave it, it's not really taking any energy from the plant as it's focused on the few flowers it has left. I guess if you don't like the way it looks, then you could shop it off. However, If it were me, I'd leave it until it ran it's course.
