2 nice blooms is all

2 nice blooms is all I got out of the schilleriana. They all flexed backwards and kind of stayed that way. The last few were not as badly shaped. The color is very nice though and they do have a slight scent. Fruity scent the best I can tell. Was 1st time I ever bloomed a phal species. I cant say a complete loss but it was a disappointment for me. Ill do better next time.:blushing:

I think your blooms are a little more lavender than mine, mine are more pink, or is it the lighting? Anyway it will probably have nicer ones next time, in the meantime don't stress too much about something you can't change! ....Jean

Look beautiful!

If I can offer a suggestion, try not to allow water droplets on flowers (unless you've done that on purpose for a photo?) I really don't know the reason, but I've read this would kill flowers quickly, it might also leave some black marks on petals.

Water drops on Phals is not an issue. All of my mounted Phals get massive water daily from a hose. Roots, leaves and blooms are totally soaked like they were in a down pour. After the water soaking they are then sprayed with fertilizer solution.

I actually think it helps the buds open because Phal buds are prone to "happy sap".

Agrees water on the blooms if done correctly (ie it dries relatively quickly) shouldn't cause a problem

As to the blooms, these are really nice. Most all schills have reflexes blooms. It's a natural thing. Nice they are scented! Some crosses result in good flowers but no scent, and in my breeding program, that's a non-starter. Don't be disappointed, these are nice for a first bloomer!

My first orchid was a schilleriana. It had no scent. Sometimes these can have loads of bloom. I don't know what happens sometimes, though, my doritinopsis only has a few blooms this year.

Pretty! Nice you found a scented one!

Lovely! Yes, two blooms is definitely better than none! And me being such a notorious Phal killer, I admire everyone who grows them well! :wtg:
