I don't think our OS takes the display out of Ohio...maybe it goes to Pittsburgh, though. Our show seemed to be doing brisk business but after I finished working, the kids ushered me out so they could go to the mall. I only had time to get a onc. Twinkle. Good luck! Hope you sell out! :)

Self control? No. But my kids helped at the show and after two hours, they were eager to get to the mall. I am going to the West Shore OS show without them and will shop to my heart's delight.
Yeah, the road east usually ends at Pittsburgh. Some of our OS members travel all the way from Chicago to Florida and when they have a plant they want judged...wherever, but that is certainly not me. Will you have orchids to enter? My mature orchids are either close to the end of the bloom cycle and not looking their best, already done blooming, or just spiking/budding...or won't bloom til much later. I just bought a cattleya schroederae seedling as it is said to be the one that blooms now. We shall see! |

Ahh I see!! Hopefully you get a lot of good deals at the West Shore show! Wow! Is the nearest judging center really that far away??! There is one in Philadelphia and one in D.C. which are both about two hours away from me. I will not be entering anything. Our OS sadly could not get enough volunteers to help out with setup and tear down, so we won't be putting in an exhibit. And none of my plants are good enough to put in Steve's display! Just abotu everything in his display is worthy of or holds an AOS award. I do have a nice big Phal. Mount Lip with 11 flowers and 8 buds, but it won't be fully open in time. And also, like I said, it's not up to par with Steve's plants, so I wouldn;t have anywhere to display it. the Rest pf my things are not in bloom, I have some spikes and some buds, but no flowers. Sadly, most of my plants don;t bloom during show season :( good luck on the C. schroederae! It's a fantastic species, we have some at the greenhouse! |
We have a judging center in Cleveland. I honestly have no idea why they take them elsewhere. In about five years, that schroederae will be showing off...along with some of those other seedlings. If my plants persist in blooming late, I'll have that dowiana. Just imagine your orchids in ten years! They will be taking all the prizes!!!! :)
