New untagged orchid purchased in Aceh, Indonesia
4 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I purchased this orchid from a private collector in Aceh (Sumatra, Indonesia) several weeks ago and am having trouble identifying it. I'm trying to figure out what it's water and light needs are. I'm attaching pictures of flowers and plant. Any help would be great! |
I believe that it is Dtps/Phal Dyah Redita - the keikis are a give-away. Mine is the same.
Per OrchidWiz - grow in low light/shaded Temps - 66-85f at night. GL ! see first picture on this post Phal cornu-cervi 'alba' and Phal celebensis |
Did you see any Nepenthes while you were over there? The have some amazing species.

Thank you very much. I think you're right.
Can I ask another question? What do you grow yours in and how often do you water it? I think my plant was over watered when I purchased it, and I had to deal with some fungus. It appears to be potted in a mix of older brick pieces and tree fern bark. I've been misting it most days and throughly watering it twice a week. Thanks again! ---------- Post added at 07:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:58 AM ---------- Quote:

Thanks again![COLOR="Silver"] mine is mounted on a palm trunk. I mist it daily and dunk water it about every 3 weeks. The leaves look wilted/spongy but new growth is fine. I think the problem is that it receives too much sunlight but its so big that its awkward to hang. I will definitely hang it outside during summer. |
You have happy healthy orchids outdoors....what is your grow zone?
That Phalaenopsis from Indonesia is a large specimen it must be more than 10 years old.... you have other Phalaenopsis in your garden it will thrive well with the others.... |
