Spiking Dtps. Yu Pin Burgundy shows a sign of root infection

I grow my phals in clear plastic pots, and today I noticed a spot of fungal rot on one of my phals' roots.

Here is a view of the whole plant:

My normal response would be to repot, cut off the rotten roots, and treat with fungicide.

But I am really worried about blasting the buds if I do that. Can I get away with just soaking in physan, and waiting until after the blooming is over before repotting? The orchid is otherwise fairly healthy and strong, with a good number of roots. What's the best course of action to avoid losing the upcoming flowers?

I would take a sharp utility knife and cut a window out of the plastic pot just around the infected roots. Let them dry out first, then see if they need any treatment. Then, if the infection doesn't go away on its own, treat with fungicide (my preferred one is sulphur powder)

That is a very interesting suggestion, ALToronto, and one I hadn't thought of. Thank for the idea.
