Oncidium?
 

Hi,

I just picked this orchid up at a local greenhouse today. It was just labeled 'orchid' and the guy that sold it to me knew nothing about it. I thought it was an oncidium when I first saw it. Am I right?

It certainly appears to be one. Once it blooms you can get a better idea of which one it might be.

Looks like something from that alliance. The straight oncidiums I have are much more wrinkly in the pseudobulbs. That one looks a lot like my Odontocidiums which seems to keep their pseudobulbs more plump. See what happens when it flowers eh!

I am no expert, but that looks like my oncidium. It actually looks nice and healthy. There appears to be new growth coming in, about the same as mine is now. Look for a spike later on this year from that new growth.
