White Phaleonopsis

Here are photos just taken by webcam of my white Phaleonopsis. It only has 5 flowers but they are much larger than when I was given it at my retirement party 18th June 2012. In the centre of the flower is a little yellow and brown. I do not think those colours come out even when you click on the image to make it bigger and show more , for example the roots in the photo of the leaves. Does anyone know if the orchid has a name or is it simply White Phaleonopsis?

It's simply a white phalaenopsis, like you said. No orchid has hybridized more than white phals so it's impossible to know the name unless there's a tag or it's a species (which it doesn't seem to be). It's still nice though. Enjoy.

It looks like there is a label on the pot. Have a close look: there might be a partial name on it

White Phaleonopsis

Thank you for answering. There is no name on the lable or anywhere on the pot. It gives the name of the manufacturer, stolkorchids in the Netherlands and a website. I went there and watched a YouTube video on how the Phaloeonopsis are produced. I saw a Phaleonopsis that resembled mine but no name was given. Therefore I shall go on calling it a White Phaleonopsis. At the end there are other orchid care videos. In the one on repotting that I looked at it says to remove the moss the orchids come in as they retain too much water and will drown the roots gradually. I do not think my orchids are in moss but in bark but I shall be on the lookout the next time I get a Phaleonopsis.

Hi Edwin, welcome to the OB! nice to see your white Phal is doing very, very nicely. Congratulations!
I too started with a white Phal (first 'chid) and I still have one. The newest hybrids have huge flowers and I always tell myself I must get one.... hasn't happened yet because I now invariably find myself buying orchids that you don't get at the local shop... But whites (of any kind) are my favourite colour blooms.
And yes your plant definitely looks like it is planted in bark.

Quite possibly hasn't got a name then. I don't know that supplier, but I know that in Tescos (supermarket here) the plants tend to have a label with supplier name. Sometimes there's also a code number (which I guess means the plant doesn't have a name) and sometimes a partial name. Eg you might get something like 'bald kal' and 'yellow' which with luck you'd find was probably Baldans Kalaidoscope which has a yellow flower...

It has a lot of numbers and the words Wit Floricult which is Dutch I suppose. I shall stick to White Phaleonopsis.

The one I got from work has very large flowers now and is all white except for a tiny bit of yellow and brown in the centre. It is grand but I like ones with other colours in them like the Yu Pin Pearl my daughter gave me best. Pink and purple Phaleonopsis are what most people buy in Sweden.

Floricult is one of the labels I see in Tesco... I think if it has just numbers then and no name that means it's unamed/unregistered. I don't know this for sure. I guess if you are really bothered you could try getting in touch with the supplier (I think their full name might be something like Floriculture?)

Thank you for answering. "White Phaleonopsis" will do for me as its name. The supplier is definitely Stolkorchids in the Netherlands.
