Trichotosia vulpina-a hairy fox
2 Attachment(s)
I came across this uncommon fox furred hairy orchid (the meaning of its Greek-Latin name) from the Philippines last year at the EOC in Budapest. Its for the lovers of odd plants. Reportedly it loves a warm shady place with high humidity and moving air. Not my plant.

Weird. I have never heard or seen this before. Thanks for sharing.

hairy plant with hairy flowers in monochromatic color....you cant distinguish the plant from the flower ....you have to look at it really close.
really quite interesting...Thanks for Sharing! |
Thanks Tindomul and Bud. There are about 30 species of Trichotosia (related to Eria) and some of them look similar. I could not start to dissect a flower from a plant, that is not mine, in a public showroom. So I only took pics of the label to know how it was named. Maybe the judges checked the species, but I do not think so. I wanted to share the pictures as the plant is so weird.

Wow! That's my kind of plant (except for the warm-growing part). Fabulous.
