Two more new minis! :)

I really didn't PLAN to buy orchids, but as I stepped into the whole foods the other day, they had lots of these tea cup sized phals and it happened to be one of my favorite colors on phals!

They were mostly this deep rose purple (?? so hard to describe the color) with white edge, and some were orange/yellow and two equestri lookalike hybrids.

Some looked virused with those "taiwan viruses" so I had to put them down.

I did bring home two. These are the smallest phals in my collection now. NOID, but who cares? They look super cute hahaha

Roots look healthy and everything too!

Gorgeous. Love these mini Phals, but one one has to draw the line somewhere - can't grow everything (though I never stop wishing I could).

I know, that's the tough part of it all I think. hahaha

Cute! Phals are always so enticing in bloom. I recently bought an equestris, another small phal. I needed a phal I wouldn't give away when not in bloom (space is a premium now). :)

Very cute!

Thanks, all!

Oh, by the way, the equestris hybrid is already blasting two of its flowers while the other one is perfectly fine.
It's only been one day. There goes by luck with minis again!

I wrapped these plants in quadruple layers of plastic bags and then a paper shopping bag, then carried home thinking I did a great job this that.

Maybe this one is just too sensitive.

Lovely!

One of the sad realities of my home is the fact that any buds that aren't going to open in a week will blast when I first get an orchid home.
Luckily my equestris lookin NOIDS are busily making tons of new buds...
Maybe yours still too.

I find that the regular sized phals are tougher than minis.
The only time I have bud blast on large phals is when I buy them in the winter (with one exception of my Taida Salu that was purchased in the heat of late summer and the entire bloom dropped within one week! crazy!!), but even then only two plants I bought out of many, had some bud blasts.
I think some plants are just more sensitive to cold than others.

Happy to hear about your hard working little mini phal. I love mini phals with tons of little buds and flowers. just want to pop them all open with my fingers, but I resist the urge! lol

How funny... I have the opposite experience.
What I have a really hard time with are green phals. Don't know why...

The one in my picture is currently dying.
Ah well...
I'll keep trying.

Pop them all?
Oh gosh... that's all I'm gonna be able to think about now...
I don't know if I'm strong enough to resist the urge!

You have a green phal? I want a green phal, well, I have a very faint green phals that are somewhat bigger than mini.

I've seen green phal that looks just like standard white phal. It was amazing!!!

Anyways, my grandmother used to grow lots of ballon flowers. They make such this noise when you pop the ready to open, full blown buds. My sister and I would go around the field and pop as many as we could find. and grandma would run after us and yell at us. fun time lol

so when I see round buds like the ones on phals, I so want to just pop them open! propbably won't make the same fun noise, but would be fun!
