Sogo Vivien variegated

Can't help myself when I see Peter has these in stock (Big Leaf Orchids). I originally bid on one he had on eBay but found the one on his site so much more appealing. My other Vivien is nearly all white! Very slow growing. So when I saw this one with more green I went for it. You can tell its a robust plant. Both of my Viviens are healthy but this new one seems to be stronger in general, if that makes sense. The two for comparison.

Nice leaves! and three spikes! will look so good when all buds are open!

I should have grabbed one last year when these were so common at a grocery store nearby.

The nearly all yellow leafed one might be weak with less green to make food for itself I think?

Keep us informed as to how that one grows.

Yes they do grow more slowly because of the lack of chlorophyll. This little plant works hard but its a slow go for it. Sadly, that doesn't mean mistreatment is slow too...have to keep an eye on these to make sure they're happy and have the best all the time. Unlike other phals which will survive a reasonable amount of neglect.

I see.

Well, I have hard time with any mini phals. I am happy that one nearly dead super mini phal is coming back to life after my tender care in an enclosed glassware. It is making some buds at the moment and I'm so excited to see cute little purple flowers once again!

Wow! you have a promise of a wonderful surprise....your plant is happy and healthy....
I have this exact plant and I have noticed three tiny spikes coming out too....it is also happy, healthy and robust maybe because I am now better at Phalaenopsis culture than I was before....I guess I still have three months until it opens its blooms

That variegated foliage is great. I hope you'll post a picture when it blooms.

Love the variegated leaves! I have one from the grocery store purchased a few years back. It's had its ups & down, alas. It's looking better right now, so I am hopeful. Yours looks beautiful!

I have a Sogo Vivien. When it blooms, it blooms well, but I actually find it to be a difficult grower - fussy and prone to sulking. Love the variegation on yours!

Mine is about a 50/50 mix and its a very, very slow grower. It puts out a decent amount of roots but leaves are very hard to come by. Your new one should be a very vigorous grower for sure.

So pretty. I love the variegation. Mine just has plain leaves. Wish my grocery had these kind of things.
