Dendrobium canaliculatum culture
I just got this from Andy's and have a question regarding winter rest. From what I've read, it should have a winter rest but it currently has a spike. Should I hold off on watering now or keep it dry? How long of a winter rest should I give it?

Den. canaliculatum aka Ti-tree orchids (because they almost always grow on melaleucas aka Ti-trees or Tea Trees) occur naturally in the dry tropics in open forest where they get a dry winter and plenty of light.
I haven't tried growing them away from their natural environment but the odd light watering during the colder weather shouldn't do any harm. Baz |
Dry rest doesn't mean no water. I just cut back watering from every 3 days to every 7 days. You don't want the PB's to dry out and start to shrivel.
