Black spots all over my mini cattleya..

I just noticed that a sad little mini cattleya that someone handed me the other day is covered in black spots.
It's not near my other orchids but if it's disease ridden I don't want to knowingly mix of with my other orchids.
Is this a deadly virus, bad culture, or harmless and ugly?

Do you have a photo of it?

And a close up.. they aren't weeping, or soft, or indented... they just look like spots

It looks like it might be fungal

Not viral? That a relief. Now to Google how to treat it.

The only way to distinguish a virus from other ailments is with a test. Maybe someone else will chime in with there thoughts. If you look at the top of the page for this forum it has pages you can visit for orchid diseases and viruses. There isn't a treatment for viruses, but it lists chemicals for treatment of bacteria and fungal issues

It dose look like a fungis did you water at nighht or on a cloudy day and leave water sit on the leaves. however cats are good at defending themselves agenst this unless they are weak. Check your media and growing conditions just to be sure. a virus is more visable in the floweres as color breaking and often if on the leaf it apears to be in the leaf not just the outside layer.

I know there's isn't a for sure method to tell aside from testing. But I figured you guys might have and inkling lol.
And I do know virus aren't treatable...
But if it's got a chance that it's fungal I'll give it the best shot I can before giving up.
Thank you for the link!

It's weak....
Sadly.

I haven't taken care of this thing... I received it yesterday from a friend who purchased it from a grocery store. This was its first official day under my care.
Locked to poor thing in they bathroom lol.
The medium looks iffy at best.
I'm going to check out all in the morning.

It's good to know that tidbit about virus plants... the flowers are in sorry shape but it's from being knocked around so much
