Sievekingia fimbriata
 

A tiny species from Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia. Living on branches in ant gardens, Sievekingias are growing year round. As the ants are eagerly aerating their house, keeping moisture constant, bringing in parts of cut leaves and grow fungi to have food, Sievekingias deadly need a fresh medium. I repot at least annually into a blend of New Zealand sphagnum, medium grade Mediterranean fir bark, clay pellets and eventually Perlite. It took about one hour to carefully separate the roots into 3 divisions.
In pic 2 and 3 I moved the pendant spike sideward for better viewing.

Really lovely! That root mass looks great, I'm surprised it only took an hour to separate, I think I would have taken a LOT longer!

This genus really is under represented in collections. Yours is absolutely beautiful and obviously very well grown. How big is that pot? Have you ever tried growing these guys in semi-hydroponics?

To answer your question, isurus: I've never tried hydroponics. The pot has a diameter of 11 centimeters at the upper rim. The maximum length of a leaf is 30 centimeters.
