Bulbo root tips shriveling and turning brown/black?
 

I just repotted my bulb. echinolabium a few days ago. Many of the roots that had nice tips now have brownish/blackish shriveled tips. What should I do?

Could be a number of things, a few that come to mind are low moisture/humidity, excessive salts in the medium, or low temps. What did you pot it in and what cultural conditions are you giving it? I don't grow this species but others in the same section (Lepidorhiza) seem to like warm temps, lots of moisture, and moderate to high light.

I potted it in a mesh pot, p'nuts on the bottom and sphag on top of them. It it usually warm in my room (I use a space heater when I'm home) and I mist it in the morning. It is two feet away from a south window, it gets catt. light. No direct sun, though.

Sounds like an okay way to pot but pay attention to how fast it's drying out, for me net pots always dry out really fast indoors in the winter, regardless of what medium I use. This type of Bulbo really loves having near-constant moisture; if the pot is drying out really fast try standing it in a dish of water you change out every few days, this works really well for many bulbo species. The way I have it set up in my room, I can't do that (I tilted the pot so it can get mor light to the leaves) But I will put a bowl of water at the bottom of the contraption I have it on. Thanks a lot! *ALSO: The way I received the plant, a few bulbs were buried. I had to repot it so the bulbs were un-buried. This caused a good amount of roots to go from being potted to being exposed. Is this the problem? In that case, what should I do? Should I cover them with sphag?
