Is this a Ctna Why Not?
Got this little fellow for a song when i was on a tour in Thailand some months back. Attracted to it's pastel colouring and small size.
It is now established on a fern bark and has started flowering. Unfortunately, it's a noid. I was wondering if it is a Ctna Why Not, as they do look similar. Anybody has any idea?http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps635296ce.jpg This is what it looks like when i took a photo of it when it is still in Thailand. http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/P8116655.jpg |
The classic 'Why Not' that I see in South Florida has a rounder shaped lip and a darker color. Also shorter petals and a rounder flower shape. But OrchidWiz does show one version of 'Why Not' that looks more like yours. I would say your's is probably not 'Why Not' but something similar.

My Avatar is 'why not' with the rounder shape. So I think it might be something else.

whatever it's name is - I love it!

It could be a hybrid. I have a Roundabout X CTNA Orglade's Little Lover "Jacks Hill" that I waiting for to bloom. I bought it as a tiny plant last year. It is showing sheaths.

It looks to me like you have the species Broughtonia sanguinea, which is one of the parents of Guaritonia Why Not.

Here is the classic "Why Not". I've had this for years and it hasn't changed shape or color. One of my first.

Wow! I wish mine would hurry up and bloom. I think it is pink. I prefer yous.

Have no idea what the name it - but I really like the color and size of the plant. How tall is it overall? It looks like a beauty and a keeper! Steve :waving |
