over the past 3 weeks or so the new leaves on this phal have started i guess deteriorating? but the older leaves are just fine. what does this looj like? |
Looks like some sort of fungal or bacterial infection. It's best to cut off the affected part using a sterile cutting tool.
|
ok, how far should i cut down? and i've heard people in the past talking about putting cinnamon paste on where you cut? but i've also heard someone say that doing that can seal in the infection. is that true?
|
Cut down so that there is only good tissue left, you want to cut slightly further than needed rather than leaving any of the affected tissue.
An yes use cinnamon if you have it, you can use the powder if you have it, just dab it on the cut. |
I would say that this is crown rot. Cut off the affected leaves and dust with cinnamon. Water was left in the crown and caused the leaves to start rotting. This will not put out any more new leaves from the crown but possibly will put out keikis from the base. Sorry about that.

I don't think its crown rot. I agree with removing the nonviable tissue and applying cinnamon. It looks alot like fungus to me. The best way to treat that is to spray the whole the whole plant with physan 20
