In spike/bud
I thought we could post some pictures of our spikes/buds here, if you're interested.
Here are three of the Paphs I have in bud at the moment: Paph. venustum: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8200/8...ff2bc712_c.jpg Paph. callosum var. sublaeve's first bud, which also looks like it could be a double flower (this is unfortunately a stress blooming about to happen, which is why the fans are immature): http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8494/8...c52a3cec_c.jpg Second bud (it looks huge, but it isn't, it's just the fan being ridiculously small): http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8479/8...4b3aa1a2_c.jpg Paph. cerveranum (my first Paph which has already bloomed once this year), it's apparently a bit tricky, so the probability of it blasting is quite high: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8349/8...f03a816f_c.jpg |
I love the way paph buds look when they hang from the spike, just about to open. They look so elegant. My paphs are still at the 'growing fan' stage so it will be a while. Nice photos!

Nice!

I wish mine could make some fans too, since the major part of my collection consists of baby Paphs with only one fan each. |
Yes, but they take forever to grow fans!!!

The buds are coming along fine at the moment:
Cerverenaum: http://www.neovita.com/orkideer/bild...51548.orig.jpg Callosum var. sublaeve: http://www.neovita.com/orkideer/bild...51549.orig.jpg And a primary hybrid, Ashburtoniane, that have been working on its bud for a while, the bud is now visible enough to take pictures of (this bud is BIG, compared to all the other Paph buds I've had, so I really look forward to the flower): http://www.neovita.com/orkideer/bild...51550.orig.jpg Quote:

And here's another update of my paphie-buds. First out is a newcomer, my little robinsonii (which I suspect will look a lot like my cerveranum), whose spike has finally started growing after sulking for some months now:
http://www.neovita.com/orkideer/bild...51832.orig.jpg Here's my cerveranum which is a really fast grower when it comes to spikes at least: http://www.neovita.com/orkideer/bild...51831.orig.jpg My callosum var. sublaeve's three spikes are developing nicely (to me, for some reason, they look like three women praying): http://www.neovita.com/orkideer/bild...51830.orig.jpg And my Ashburtoniane, which is so much bigger than the other ones' buds: http://www.neovita.com/orkideer/bild...51833.orig.jpg |
Beautiful plants and excellent photographs!
