I wanted to bump this thread because I have a question. I am looking for the tetraspis with the red bars (the first picture). Now I have found 2 types from a grower near me.. so lucky. Now these are the ones they have for sale the tetraspis alba (is completely white?) and the tetraspis (white with spot)is how she's labelled it. Do they eventually have the bars (eg like the first posted in your picture) or just stay as spots. Do I need to find the tetraspis C1 to have the plant with the complete red on the petals as in the first pic? Geeze I hope I've not completely confused everyone lol Thanks for the help.

Cheryl, the only one that shows the random red blotching is the C#1 clone. Anything else is going to be white, or white with red barring.

Brenda this is my favorite species Phal. Your C#1 is very nice!

gorgeous flower....I got one of these when I first saw it posted here, I hope to get a bloom just like yours with a single red petal on white blooms....

These are great! I think the most fun flowers of these are ones that bloom with either the dorsal sepal colored, or when both lateral sepals are colored. It's always cool to see these bloom out and see what happens. If only you could get them each to do opposite things across the bloom! That would be awesome.

Also Cheryl, I can only recommend getting these from a reputable seller. With Kingfisher in your backyard, I'd choose them, as you know you will get what you want. Also I think they sell stems of a cross, so you know EXACTLY what you're gonna get as it's a clone.

Ok, both these flowers are on the same plant and are very different. The back one has no burgundy at all...just a slight bit of purple on the lip the rest is white. Not sure I understand this one. Anybody?

That's one of the beauties of this species. More white is often seen in the cooler months, and more red barring is seen in the warmer months. Like I mentioned above, there is probably some contribution of lighting on this.

Ok, I just didn't realize that flowers on the same plant could be totally different, thought they should still have the same markings. Thanks for the info.
