Zygo Louisendorf
in bud, 2nd time this year. What's not to like - easy to grow, regular blooming, spectacular flowers... and the cherry on the top - beautifully scented !

Looks like some great blooms in the near future! How big is the new growth that spike is coming from? I have a different zygo hybrid that bloomed this summer and now has two new growths, one of which is about 4 inches tall and I am hoping for a spike in the near future.

Excellent! :wtg:

it will be interesting to see other responses but with mine - I have 5, all different hybrids - I have noticed that if new growth is more than about 4 inches and there is no spike visible, then you aren't going to get one. I have one that has never flowered - its called Alan Greatwood - and it had 2 new growths, no flowers....and now it has another 2. I am hoping !
I read somewhere that some z species only flower 1x per year. Louisendorff is really an exceptional hybrid. |
Mine did bloom this past summer on a new growth that was likely around 6 inches. I had almost given up and then it put out two gorgeous spikes! It was a first bloom and I wondered if it would be a little quicker to bloom on the next growth. I guess I will just keep my fingers crossed. Since it has a 2nd smaller growth as well, it may not have the energy for blooms. I sure hope so as we loved it!
Can't wait to see yours again. |

Lovely fragrance, just staked the spike so looks a bit odd.

Terrific!

Very nice! Mine just finished blooming. I had a growth that didn't flower, too.

Very nice! I am still hoping one of my two new growths will bloom on my Zygo.
