Phal. amboinensis
Phal. amboinensis. Broken crown unfortunately, happened about a year ago. Hoping for a keiki and instead got 12 flowers/buds on three spikes.

Ooooo, that is a very nice and floriferous amboinensis!!! I'm sure it will make a basal kieki or something of the sorts eventually!
|
yep, waiting and hoping
thanks |
What a nice bunch of flowers, can't wait for my ambo to flower and I hope I'll get that nice a blooming :) Any fragrance?
And ever have that feeling some orchids like to be contrary? Flowering when we want leaves/roots/keikis and vice-versa? Finally cut the flower spikes on my phal. violacea that have been flowering non-stop for 2 years. I want leaves! Bet it'll grow another spike to spite me! |
This is a lovely species to grow. Nice flowers.

One of my favorite species, so many nice looking flowers !!

Fabulous!

When a plant spikes from the center of crown....is that it, no more spikes or leaves from the plant? I have a peloric phal that has done just this....but it has keikis. Yours is a beauty and I hope you get a Keiki or 2.
|
Brenda, I believe that is correct, when a spike emerges from the center of the crown where leaves usually come out of it means it will stop growing leaves or spikes but will likely grow a basal keiki which eventually takes over as the main plant... if I'm not mistaken.
