Barkeria hybrid
 

Greetings -
I am horrified to pass along the information that Exotic Orchids of Maui is offering free shipping on orders placed through 10/21. A very nice chunk of change, and just beautiful plants. *And* they always send a lagniappe.
My question: one of my EEoM prizes is a Barkeria (whartonianum x melanocaulon) cross - I'm surprised at just how big this is; my only other Barkeria is palmeri, which is small and grassy. I had planned on putting this on a grapevine mount. Anybody have any of these bigger Barkerias? And what do they like?
Second choice would be a basket; pots are a bad choice here in the deep south.

Hi nancy, I just ordered that same plant (I posted a notice about the sale in the Orchid Lounge forum...being the enabler that I am ;) )

Did a little research and found that it's been named:
Barkeria Marsh Melton

I read that it's best grown in pots with shredded tree fern...or in baskets :) I'll be going for the basket as tree fern is such a mess :(
