Two new Minis! :)
So I gave in to my weakness (or to the atractiveness of the pretty flowers) when I saw cute little phals at Trader Joe's last night.
There are always a few mini, but last night, I saw lots and lots of truly miniature phals. I just wanted a closer look. Most looked bad with many of the buds/flowers dropped or dried up. Some did look good. I initially picked four, one orange (never seen this color on phals before) mini, one equestris hybrid, and two that I ended up buying! The other two I didn't buy, I put them down because they had some brown spots on the leaves and flowers. I hope to see the healthier versions of the same color soon so I can have them too! The light pink one is actually much darker in person, quite small but flowers are big (3 in across). I have a similar one bought at TJ last month but this one is much darker and has more flowers. The super mini is Zuma's Pixie. So cute with tiny red purple flowers on two delicate spikes. The pink one came in very small plastic pot that is again housed inside a green plastic pot. The potting media looks really bad, dark and mushy. hmmm Zuma's Pixie has perfect roots with clean media that was super dry, so I just gave it a good watering. I will have to say buy to one or two large phals so I can stack up some more of these little cuties. |

I need to change the media soon as they look pretty bad. I'm just not very comfortable messing with the roots in fear of bud blast. Kind of puzzled... |

Oooh, you have a Zuma's Pixie too? I have its older sister here and it's a BIG Phal. I thought I would get something like the one you have, not the mother of all Zuma's Pixies.
Mine is growing really well, but it's so big and, well, ugly (with roots pointing in every direction, impossible to get down into the medium) so I don't know if I'll keep it or not. I'll keep thinking during the winter and I'll see if I'll try to find a new home for it in spring or not. Your Pixie is a darling though. |

They do have large impressive flowers, which makes it hard to avoid them. My little Zuma's Pixie is so small, but very cute. love the color too, a bit darker version of queen beer. |
a better picture of Zuma's Pixie in the day light.
