Fungicide/miticide/insecticide damaging new leaves?

Hello,
I've used a combination fungicide/miticide/insecticide (Safer's) to combat some fungus and mite problems, but I notice some damage to new leafs, but the timing was not direct (as in I sprayed one day and 1 week later there was damage). So I'm not sure if it was the spray that I used that damaged the new leaves, or if it was someting else. But whatever it was it only seemed to happen once, then no more damage.
The reason why I'm asking is that the same thing happened to a phal I gave to my mom. We bought it and I repotted it for her, but there had been some bugs in the medium (I think they were fungus gnats) and I sprayed the plant down with the Safer's. There was one new leaf, and about two weeks after I gave it to her, there was substantial damage to the new leaf, but it looked exactly the same as what happened to mine a few months ago. But again, there has not been anymore damage in the past week.
The damage involved both indenting and blistering of the surface of the leaf. It also only happened to the new leaf, nothing happened to the mature ones.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I've used Safers for quite a while and not found a problem. I have also used Schultz "Garden Safe" spray without problems. I tend to think the timing may have been the culprit, not the spray. It's possible the bugs were in process of damaging new leaves, it's possible the stress of the bugs/fungus was the culprit, but for now, I suspect it's not the Safers product. It's pretty benign.

In retrospect, maybe it's just plain stress? Who knows. The 'chids are OK now, right? :)
