Where to buy New Zealand Spagnum moss locally?
 

Hi everyone
Could anyone suggest a place in Canada that sells New Zealand Spagnum Moss for my slipper orchids?
I've been importing huge amounts from the states and the shipping costs are hurting.

There is other media far better suitable to slipper orchids than New Zealand Moss, and perhaps more readily available for you. I imagine you will get several suggestions here.

Most successful slipper orchid growers I know use washed fine fir bark and perlite. Others have had success with coco chips. Try the search button on this OB and see what others have previously said on the subject.

I know it has been discussed previously but the Search button gave me no results. You might post on the Cypripedium/Paph alliance forum or the Potting/repotting part, or maybe one of our moderators has a better idea or were it has come up before. Rosie is an expert at finding previous threads!

where in Canada are you? You could try contacting your local orchid society, as they usually sell supplies at meetings :)
