Dendrobium nobile new shoots
Hi there
Have several Dendronobium Nobile orchids which have had white and yellow flowers, the canes are about a foot high still with green leaves, a couple have turned yellow and come off, which i understand i part of the plants life cycle, one has a new shoot along side it almost the same height as the original cane and has sprouted roots about 1 inch long, another cane has what can only be described as 2 spring onions one either side of the original cane about two thirds up the canes height but these two have not yet produced roots. Question any idea how long before these produce roots and can be removed from the main cane stem to be repotted as new plants. Many thanks for any replies:hello |
Are these growing from the base of the canes (new growth from the rhizome) or further up (keiki)?

If it helps the main cane is approx 36 cm high and the two offshoots are approx 5 cm below the top of the cane they measure about 20cm there is also a new shoot with roots at the bottom of the main cane, this new growth is now almost as tall as the original cane, there is no sign of roots yet from the upper two new shoots, i will try and upload some pictures into my gallery which may be helpfull

Ah ok. Just checking ;) Roots sometimes can take a while, other tumes shoot out like crazy. I would think that since nobile will be in winter rest soon, roots on keikis may take some time ...
