Rescue Phal with black spots

:hello
My boyfriend's mother bought a pretty noid phal and gave it to me to rehabilitate for her. When I received it, it was very dry and seems to be very rootbound (it's packed in moss, of course). I gave it a good watering and am going to repot it today or tomorrow. Upon examination, I found some black spots on a couple of leaves and it looks like part of the rhizome is black as well. I guess I won't know for sure what's going on until I repot the little guy, but I wanted to see if anyone could tell me if it looks like a fungal/bacterial infection. I made sure to keep it away from my other plants just in case it's something serious. I've attached some pictures to help with a diagnosis :D |
Hopefully someone else will know about the black spots as I'm not really sure. Overall it looks in reasonable condition, the black at the base looks like some rot has started coming up from the roots.
I would repot ASAP into bark, but be careful not to put it in too big a pot, the roots like to be tight and that way they dry quicker which helps stop rot. I would possibly use some 1%-2% Hydrogen Peroxide on the base to try and stop whatever it is. |

Also, I repotted it into a classic orchid bark mixture and am trying not to overwater it. |
