Could my day get any worse?!!!

i am very angry now!! i just got some orchids that i ordered from malaysia and i opened the box and 1 was completely rotten at the base another 1 was in mint condition ( perfect, made me a little happier,) another 1 ok but leaves looked bad and new growth shed all its leaves! then i walk in my Green House and what do i see? a grasshopper chewing flower buds off an orchid and the base of a BLC Green Chief....... chewed 3/4 of the way through!!!!:((:((:((:((:((
hopefully the title of this wont jynx me! :biggrin:

just whent back again and checked out more orchids in my GH and an ascofinetia cherry blossom had a new primary root chewed off, same thing as another neostylis lou sneary!!! also roots chewed off some dends. these grass hoppers are really testing my patients!!!!

I saw some natives eating grasshoppers on tv once. They must be good....Sorry about your plants. What a bummer, after all the waiting for the flowers to bloom and arrive you get that as a reward for your patience.

Grasshopper are buggers to catch/kill too. I've brought one inside on a plat on occasion. Argggg! You'll get the little ....

Sorry about your plants. It is a heartbreak that I think most of us have experience in one way or another. My hubby just bumped an orchid with a big sheath and tiny buds in it and of course that entire growth is what snapped off rather than an old one. I had never seen it bloom and never found a photo of that hybrid. So I hear ya!

My mum was telling me that she's lost all her flowers everything that was in flower - Vandas, a Cattleya purpurata (which I gave her a couple years ago) paphs and phals yesterday and this from Sykes Monkeys. The worst is that they take the flower off the plant have a bite and discard!!!!!!

As I said to her at least they didn't destroy the plants and she can look forward to new blooms in the future!

Thanks it's very annoying and yesterday I killed quite a few!
