Undescribed Pleurothallis

Andrea Niessen was here in Texas a few months ago and she brought an array of really cool Pleuros. Among them was this little guy. She said that it is an undescribed species from Colombia and the tag says "Pleurothallis cff. baibutela" but I can't find anything about it. I sent her an email for clarification and am waiting to hear back. Anyway, I've had it since August 7th and it is already blooming, so I'm hoping it will be VERY floriferous as it grows. As you can see, its tiny and the flowers are this blue/purple color. I have it mounted on a champagne cork and it live in my orchid terrarium with medium bright light and intermediate temps. To be honest, I'm not even sure if it has opened all the way. I'll post more pics if it opens more. Needless to say, this was a tough one to get a picture of, but I think I captured the color fairly well, but in your mind add a bit more blue coloration.

Thanks! I'm hoping this one will grow quickly and I can have a whole swarm of these little flowers.

No I have not actually. I didn't even know such a thing could be done. I'll have to do that ASAP!

So I followed Keith's advice and I sent an email to the Pleuro Alliance and Lynn O'Shaughnessy got back to me within minutes. She said,

"If you are looking for information, the species name you refer to below as "something like" is Pl. barbulata. This looks more to me like it might be Pl. caudatipetala from what I can see. It is in the same group as Pl. barbulata. I can really not see the detail of the lip very well to tell anything further."

Now we know!! I'll have to update my flicker page...
