Dendrobium Warawan in bud
This is a dendrobium hybrid I bought in September last year in bloom. The bloom lasted for six month! (from September till February). It's a record for me.
It started to grow two new canes that matured to a slightly bigger than the previous ones. Each are bearing a long spike with about 11 buds (that's exactly how many flowers were on each spike last season as well) So I'd say I've done a good job or this plant has done a good job this season. :D The picture is rather dark, but it's in a location where no matter what I do, it comes out rather dark. You can still see the large pepper shaped bud. The second picture shows what the flowers look like. It's a large spatulata form. |
Definitely a keeper!

Thanks, Mike! I think the buds will start to open this week.

I managed to take a better shot, which is easier to see the buds.
The first flower opened today but haven't taken a good picture yet. It is so cloudy here today. |
Nice!

Flowers are opening up fast since last week.
I like these skinny yet large blooms :) I almost forgot how much I enjoyed them last season. These guys last for a long long time too. last time it lasted for nearly six months!!! |
Colours are just great! You're den looks to be in good shape, congrats on a very happy den :D

This plant is great. It's one of the few dens that did not lose a single leaf after they were brought into home. Also, leaves are evenly green.
One thing I'm wondering about this plant is that last years canes aren't making any more spikes. I do see quite a few swollen nodes on the cane but nothing grew out from those nodes. hmmm |
