Is it an addiction???
OK. So am I officially addicted when I pre-spend the birthday money I am supposed to get next month?? My daughter (the orchid and houseplant in general-disliker) left for college in August and I just went CRAZY!!! :blushing:
New to my collection in the past 2 weeks: Onc. Hawaii Sunset - 2 spikes, one blooming, the other coming on fast! Two mini phal equestris - one blooming, too cute! Encyclia cordigera - perhaps my biggest mistake, I don't have much luck with catts...but it was recommended here on OB and I HAD to have it. Pot. Deanna Sanders 'Indiana' Dtps. Kenneth Schubert - a delightful blue violet Wils. Opalescent 'On The Edge' Maxillaria tenuifolia and coming soon: Burr Nelly Isler and a Zygo. Blue Blazes I apologize if I misspelled or miscapitalized any of the names; I am still learning. Thanks to all of you who post so regularly. I made this wishlist after reading your recommends and I cannot wait to see how it all turns out! :D:D:D |
I agree completely. I guess it is better than spending money on something you can't remember what you spent it on. Now everytime it blooms you can say Oh Yeah!
|
Way to go! Who deserves it better than you!
We are all addicted.... |
Yeah, your addicted. There are many phases to the addiction process. Next comes light stands for optimal growth and bloom. Then, they take over the house, then (and I'm not quite there yet) you buy a greenhouse. There are many people on this board who have happily gone down the slippery slope. I've only got about 50 at the moment....you see how it goes?

NAH....its not an addiction....
you need orchids in your life....its like food for the soul you are just nourishing yourself |
Enjoy the addiction. There is no cure, but it won't mess up your lungs or brain cells. It will purify the air though. I had 1 orchid 2 years ago. Over the 200 mark at the moment. Heading for that greenhouse next year.

Thanks for all the enabling!
Seriously though, I have soooo enjoyed these orchids. They bring beauty to our home and my life, and the challenge of keeping them alive and blooming them is like food for the soul, Bud. My next challenge is to learn how to post pictures of them to share with OB. Can she do it???? |
Yes. It's an addiction. Just ask my wife.
Cheers. Jim |
I believe that orchids are using us in a symbiotic relationship. We care for them and we enjoy the blooms. They are using us but I don't care! Yes, I am also addicted.
|
I am an addict . . . . going on about 300 orchids.
