:scratchhead: First post must have lost it's sticky:biggrin:
So here goes... I have no previous bloom for comparison. My punctata does not look like the image presented from a replicable vendor. Did this guy blast on me :hmm What's a Aerangis lover to think :_( IOSPE PHOTOS Here's mine.... |
I am not an expert on Aerangis, or any orchid by that means,....but are you sure it just hasn't finished developing? Sorry if that was a stupid questions:blushing:

Wondered same thing. I have 3 aerangis, but no blooms. Seems like not fully out yet. ????

I do see one little area where it looks like you might have lost a single bud.
Maybe, I just can't see it in the photo but the two buds don't look shriveled or shocked to me. The bloom blasts I've seen are quite apparent. . .buds yellow & wither. Do you see anything like that? |
No withering, two days after this :photo: they shriveled and now looks like the single lost bud you saw...which came to me that way.
No watering/fert or lighting regimen changes. Only thing I can think of is that the semi-developed bloom had over spray from misting...but plenty of air circulation to provide appropriate dry time. Dunno... |
Hey Cheryl, My Aerangis mystacidii came in spike and the flowers that were already well developed buds blasted on mine - I picked mine up at a show, so there is no telling what conditions it had gone through in getting there, though it looked absolutely fine while on display. It was only a few days afterward that the shrivelling started.
The rest of buds further down the spike sat and did nothing at all for weeks until finally they opened. Before they opened, they looked very much like your's in the photo. These were just not fully opened. If this came to you in spike, it is possible that changes in conditions while travelling to you arrested the development and they just never fully opened? |
It is very common for buds to blast due to a change in conditions. Your plant does look like aerangis punctata.
