Dendrobium and Its Relatives [Illustrated] [Paperback]
Bill Lavarack (Author), Wayne Harris (Author), Geoff Stocker (Author) This book is available on Amazon.com. Wondering if this will be a good one for myself. Thanks. :think2: |
I'm not familiar with it -so here's a :bump:
I'm interested to see what people think about it, myself! |
I have this and I'm very pleased with it. Over 400 species illustrated and described. The species list is arranged under the Dendrobium sections.
Also includes information on propagation and cultivation, including general information about things like seed capsule development and growing from seed etc. Has quite a bit of detail about the plants natural habitats. I reference it often, so it was definitely worth it to me. |

Very, very good if you like Dendrobiums even a little bit, definitely in my 'top 5' list of orchid books. Also includes a lot of interesting info on evolution and relationships between different groups of Dens.

Thanks a lot to all of you for the recommendations.
I have only 1 Dendrobium but I want to learn and educate myself better . Then I can take care of what I got and also expand collection. Planning to buy this one since you guys feel it is a good one. Opinions about additional books are most welcome. Thanks a million. |
Thanks for asking about this book, and to those who recommended it. My interest in Dens has been growing, so I'm going to check out this one!

Almost all information is on the web these days, I have so many books and find myself turning to the web because its quicker. A book only contains so many types. If you only have one den then probably a web search for your Den. would probably be better.
