Hello from Vienna

Hello everyone,

after reading a while through this forum I'm happy to join in. :-)
Always fond of orchids I've had small collection some years ago, which I had to give away due to several movings. Now I'm going to restart the hobby - interested especially in species orchids. Like many members here I have a number of unnamed rescues from the - how I call them - "dying shelfs" as well. Though in any case I really like to know the name of the species/hybrid, I still think it's pretty rewarding to see those "noIDs" thrive and bloom again. :-)
I'm looking forward to reading and discussing many interesting aspects of orchid growing with you.

Welcome & Hello !
Sit back and relax...you've come to the right place...read postings by other members and learn from their wealth of knowledge learned from their years of experience on growing orchids.

Vienna is the most unforgettable place for me....I remember the magical palace right smack in the middle of the city...

Hello :welcomeflowers: Glad you found us!

My mother is from Vienna, and I've been fortunate to have visited there a couple of times (tho both times were a loooooooong time ago) - such a beautiful city!

Welcome! Your going to love it here! What species do you grow? Post pics when you have plants in bloom. We love pics!

Thanks for the welcoming.
Indeed, Vienna is always worth a visit. :-)
In a city like this you might exspect at least a few stores providing some nice specimens. Unfortunately there seem to be no decent gardening shops that sell orchids - at least no species. So I have to rely on online shops to slowly build up a collection again...which in fact isn't all that bad considering my student budget.
Nevertheless I have a slight hunch that the number of noIDs will rise before long to satisfy the addiction.

Who doesn't? ;-) If something blooms I will gladly share some pictures. At the moment I'm only growing
Phalaenopsis mannii,
Lycaste aromatica and
Rhynchostylis gigantea var. alba,
but my wishlist is growing, too.

Sorry for my bad english by the way. I'm hoping to improve it by writing more actively.

Welcome to Orchid Board! I agree with Zoi, you're English is just fine as far as I can see. :) But don't try to better your English here, even us English speakers don't always write properly in the forum world. Nevertheless, welcome!
