Gongora superflua 'Grande'

This has got to be one of my most favorite of the Gongoras. The color combination is wonderful, it's incredibly floriferous (5 spikes at present) and it's easy to grow, the only drawback is that it can get very large. The mother plant before I broke it up a year or so ago was in a custom made 30 inch teak basket and it was 5 feet across from leaf tip to leaf tip. I have learned my lesson, I divide every other year now.

Wow! Very cool!

30 inch basket?? yikes! But probably an awesome sight! Can't blame you for dividing often now tho

Fantastic. That second shot sort of looks like one of those dried up skulls you see in the desert. But with better hair. LOL

Very nice! I also remember having to divide my Gongoras pretty regularly. They grow VERY fast!!

Beautiful and intricate blooms. The color combination's quite appealing.

I guess the picture on this thread is long Gone....but 5 spikes.....that must be something!!!! Have you every brought the plant in for judging. I was trying to do some research on the superflua and it does not seem to be all that common, nor does it appear to ever have won any awards.
