Western Heart-leaved Twayblade
We found a few plants on the grounds of the Au Sable Institute in Coupeville when we were there looking for Coralroots. Often very abundant when found.

I always like seeing your photos of native orchids. Thanks for sharing. Cool pics with the spider webs and spider.

wow - great finds! Beautiful photos as always!

Beautiful bulbous flowers....the colors are gorgeous and the silken webbing all over the flowers makes a very natural touch
|
Thanks, Nenella, Sonya and Bud.
Bud, the bulbous back of the flower is the ovary and very quickly swells like that after the flower is open - don't know if these are self-pollinating but wouldn't be surprised. Nenella, I used to try to clean up the plants a bit but now prefer to just shoot them as they are, with the debris, insects, webs, etc., in place. |
Nice!
