New strange Cymbidium Growth, Semi-Hydro...
 

I have been growing orchid for 2 years only, and only recently that I got into growing Cymbidiums.

Two months ago, I acquired 4 Cymbidiums and moved them into Semi-Hydro and have been placed outside.

There are more than 10 new growths which seem to be new bulbs.

But one Cymbidium has 2 new growths, and I don't know what they are, can someone please help me identify these new growths.

They look like new pbulbs to me. Maybe spikes. It's either one or the other but I vote for pbulbs.

I'd vote pbulbs as well for all. Glad to see they like it.

Nothing strange here! They all appear to be new growths which will develop into mature pseudobulbs within a year. Definitely a good sign the plant is happy if they continue to enlarge!

The other PB growths on the other Cyms and on that same cym which i included in the same pic were more flat and much more elongated, these are fat and round, I was hoping that someone would tell me that they are flower spikes!

It may well be spikes but normally Cyms spike in autumn. I have seen some early blooming varieties where they spike in June and bloom in early Autumn though. Time will tell!
Either way, it is showing that you are taking very good care of the plants!

Yeah, I was also a bit skeptic since it is mid June now, but these growths came out and are growing differently from the PB on the same cym and the other cyms as well.

I will keep updating this thread with more photos as the growths develop more.

I think the other new growth you just spotted had already grown past this stage - this is what new growth looks like on cyms - BUT at this size it is difficult to tell the difference between spikes and new growth - they look very much the same (to me anyway).

Some Cyms do bloom in fall I think, don't know how common it is. And I have had a Cym bloom out of season (typically a winter bloomer, but one year bloomed 3 times over the year). And I believe warmth tolerant Cyms can spike or bloom this time of year - So not impossible that you might have spikes, but more likely it is new growth. Time will tell. :)
