This one has bloomed previously. It was mounted on tree fern when I got it, but that caused all kinds of mold problems in the terrarium. When it developed root rot, I decided to throw caution to the wind and mount it. Now it's throwing out new roots and this inflorenscence. It should be a lot easier now to give it a cooler, dryer winter rest. It is #2 because it was bought as "insurance" in case #1 didn't make it.

Yours is so cute I can hardly wait to see one in person. Mine is mounted on cork with a little spag, watered at least once a day. How do you grow yours?

Beautiful! It's obviously very happy on it's mount!

Beautiful! I have one too but it has never bloomed for me. It grows leaves and it is growing lots of roots right now but I don't know how to get it to bloom. How do you grow yours? Thanks! I really want to see some blooms!

Well done!
Wynn, do you give yours a winter rest (dryer)? They seem to need that to bloom...

Wynn Dee13 06-14-2012 01:52 AM

Yeah it gets less water in the winter. Last winter it barely got watered for a few months because I had some bad health issues that left me really tired without any energy. It gets high light and has a purple tint to the leaves. I did just remount it and it already has attatched itself to the mount. Does it need lower temps too? Thanks for the help!

Mine grows indoors, so gets a bit of lower temps in winter (like myself ) because of poor insulation. Other than that, nothing special but dryer winter.

Mine is mounted on cork, hangs in a southern window during the winter, and gets soaked once a week. The house is cooler during the winter.

When night temps get between 55-60' F, I hang it in my honey locust tree where it gets dappled sun all day and I fertilize daily at 1/4 to 1/3 strength. On days I'm not at the office, I water a couple of times per day.

Cheers.
Jim
