Question regarding browning on the tip of the leaf
2 Attachment(s)
Hello again,
I noticed a browning on one tip of the leaf. Is this a sign of something bad is happening to my Paph? Sorry If I sound too paranoid, but I would like to prevent something worse from happening to my Paph, she is in the middle of blooming process :( |
Sorry you've not had any answers :(
I don't believe this is a problem. I've seen it occasionally on mottled leaf ones like this and it's hasn't seemed to cause any problem. |
Leaf-tip browning in paphs is often associated with high-EC irrigation - that is, the concentration of fertilizer plus the existing dissolved minerals in the water is too great.
It can also be a reaction to potting medium that has accumulated too much residue from same. A third possibility is that it simply isn't getting enough water. So what is it potted in, what condition is it, what formula of fertilizer do you use, and how much & how often? |
One more possibility is a calcium deficiency, but if this one tiny spot is all you are seeing it is probably just random and not indicating a problem at all. Still, it can't hurt to thoroughly flush the pot with the best (low salts) water you can. As long as the roots are healthy it won't be a big problem soon, so always check the roots first if you have any question about the health of a Paph. And if it hasn't been repotted in the last 6-12 months do so as soon as the flower is gone.
