Charlotte, NC orchids?

I'm traveling to Charlotte on the 5th of July for a few days and was wondering if anyone knew of any orchid nut things to do there, like local growers, nurseries, gardens, etc... Please let me know if you do know of anything there.

The two Charlotte nurseries I know of are Carolina Orchids and Woodland Orchids. Carolina mostly carries species with a large selection of Bulbophyllum and Paphiopedilum plus many, many other genera, while Woodland has a diverse collection of hybrids and species. I would call ahead to make sure they're in when you plan to go, both are well worth a visit if you have the time. If you have a car and are up for a bit of a road trip, Carter and Holmes is only 2 hours away in Newberry, SC, and is a fantastically huge orchid nursery.

I've heard that Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is a nice place to visit, but I've never been and I don't know how much of an orchid collection they have. I've also been told UNCC has an orchid collection somewhere or other, the folks at Carolina or Woodland might be able to tell you more about that.

Hope your trip is great! :)
