Is this a flower or a weed shoot in my dendrobium aggregatum pot?
1 Attachment(s)
I recently bought a "Better Grow" Dendrobium Aggregatum from one of our local Lowe's stores. My wife and I have been keeping phals for a while, and have decided to try our hands at other orchid varieties.
What I am wondering is if the shoot in the attached photo is a flower spike, or if it is perhaps a weed that somehow got into the pot and was just waiting for some water and fertilizer to spring into action. The shoot has been growing like crazy, and if it is a weed, I would like to get it out of the pot before it becomes too entrenched. Thanks in advance! |
It looks like a weed to me.

I think it is a weed too. It looks nothing like the orchid. Flower spikes won't have leaves like that either. A new growth will have leaves but not like that. It is also growing from the back of the plant so it is not a new growth.

better take that weed out before it smothers your orchid...aggregatum have small roots that cant compete with the weed roots

Dandelion. Pull it.

Weed. You see this growing in crevices and roads and walls.

I'm certain it's a weed and I would pull it out so it doesn't compete with your orchid.

Wow! So many kind responses. Thank you.
Since there is a consensus, I'll pull it. I certainly don't want it taking over the pot. |
