Orchids in Aquaponics Setups?

Very curious if anyone's growing orchids out of an aquaponics setup, i.e. hydroponics with fish.

Disas. Perfect for those kinds of setups. They like it cool though. Ideally no warmer than 85 F.

Hrm I'll have to try that, with 880 genera + so many more hybrids it's hard to figure out which variety like more water :D

Disa aurata
Disa caulescens
Disa cardinalis
Disa tripetaloides
Disa uncinata
Disa uniflora

Of these you'll easily find:

Disa tripetaloides
Disa uniflora

The following are a bit more difficult to find:

Disa aurata
Disa cardinalis

The others have not been brought into cultivation on any noticeable level yet. Which means to say that some private individuals may have a few specimens in hand, but they're not floating around for anybody to get their hands on.

All of these grow along streams or waterfalls.

Philip mentioning growing along streams makes me think Phrags should work as well as many of them have their roots in water.

Cheers.

Given time to grow new roots, pretty mush any orchid can be "trained" to grow in what has been dubbed "water culture". In my S/H presentation, I have photos of a reed-stemmed epidendrum growing that way.
