There all in

I spent all week bringing in all my orchids and fine tuning the set up. It got down below 30 twice last week so I scrambled to get them in. I put my larger plants in the bay window which has a southern view, unobstructed. They get a lot of light as well as warmth in the winter. I pull curtains across the window at night and I make sure the humidifier is on the inside so I can run it all night. During these warm fall days I can open the side windows so it don't get so hot. I put all of my minis on the light stand across from the bay window. I have three shelves with 4 48" lights in each. The top has plain warm and cool flourescents, the middle has Ott grow lights and the bottom has cool T8 grow lights. The top can reach a high of 83 and a low of 71 with 48 to 69 percent humidity. The bottom can go as high as 73 not sure yet on how low with a steady 58 percent humidity. I am running a recirculating humidifier under the bottom shelf all day with a rest (for it) at night. I am keeping track of the ups and downs of the temp. and humidity on each shelf. I've taken two clear shower curtain liners and attached mylar on them and hung them around the shelving unit to keep the humidity level high and the warmth in when the snow falls. :_( I don't think I have much more room for any more plants but, I do have a nice variety.

I'm a few behind but, most of them are there. I've been taking advantage of the fall sales.

I can see I'm going to be pestering you for ideas for mini cool to intermediate growers!! In fact, I think I'm going to start a new thread under minis now...

Thanks for sharing your set up, Julie! It really is inspiring.

Yup, they sure are. Last fall I bought a bunch of river rock to put in them. Wow, that was a dirty job washing them all off. Works pretty good though
