Introducing myself
Hello! I am happy to be a part of this group. I currently am growing 6 orchids...3 on sticks. I am getting ready to use a small Wardian case, to grow more. I am a frequent Visitor to Longwood Gardens.::)

Welcome to the forum. Many of us here grow miniatures in containers/wardian cases/terrarium etc....
Would like to see your setup. Interesting name. Is it a play on twelth growth? |
Nope. Just a combination of initials and name. I don't own a digital camera, so I can't show you my setup yet. I am contemplating what kind of fan to use with a small Wardian Case [9"D x 12"W x 15"H at the gable] I am interested in miniatures anyway. Right now I have lined the bottom with eggcrate plastic and covered that with sphagnum moss and I have a Venus Flytrap in there as a guinea pig. I purchased an Ott Lamp to light it, although it sits in a Southern window, it doesn't get light until almost mid-day and I have covered the window above it to keep direct light off it. The light supplements the natural light. I have a small inexpensive hygrometer/thermometer and I am looking for a slightly better one...I am not sure how accurate this one is..it says I have 57% humidity and 79 degrees [F] right now. I have 2 shelves above the one it sits on and I grow the other 6 orchids there as well as miniature African Violets...and they must be happy, as they are in full bloom and I have propagated several from leaves.
Do you know where to get a very small fan to use....and should it be aimed at the opening at the top of the gables or should it pull air from the openings? |
Any computer store should carry computer fans of all sizes.
Look up Coralife Aqualite Cooling fan kits. They sell small prewired fans that you just plug in to the wall. |
