Hi from the Florida Keys

Hi. I'm new to the Orchid Board, and just figuring out how everything works here. Have already found some great information on whats 'bugging' a couple of my dens.

I have dens, phals, cats, vandas, oncidium and schomburgkias. All are outside in trees and 'slab' mounted.

I also enjoy growing florida native trees, especially flowering trees.

Welcome to Orchid Board! If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask - there is always someone here who is waiting to lend a hand.

How beautiful your garden must be with these beauties hanging in the trees (as nature intended!) - you're so very lucky to have the right environment to do that!

We'd LOVE to see photos of your orchids - I'd especially like to see them in the trees. :)

Thanks for the welcome. I'll try to upload a couple of pics to see how it's done.

Shakkai, I forgot to mention...while you might not be in the best place in the world to grow orchids outside, you do live in a very beautiful place. I've spent a lot of time in Winchester and Hursley and the area is very lovely.

:cheer: WELCOME! :cheer:
Gald you can join us here at OB :)

 I love the schombo!
Is it a tibinicis?
How tall is it?
I have a thomasoniana and 2 hybrids yet to bloom :)

Hi Dorothy. Yes...tibicinis. If you mean the plant itself, it's about 15 in high. The spike was about 3 1/2 feet. I've read it can take a long time for schombos to bloom. I think the plant has to be very mature. But I agree, they are worth the wait!!!

Your first photo is a gorgeous flower! And the third photo - the last one - WOW! That is just mind blowing...

I know I am quite lucky in where I live... and can grow an amazing variety of things in the garden - but, boy, to have something like that third photo you posted, geez! Spectacular!

I live just outside of Winchester and I actually work in Hursley - small world isn't it?

Welcome from the S.W. gulfcoast of Florida. Beautiful orchids you have there. We visit the Keys several times a year and have rented on Summerlin Key in the past. You are not that far from me so howdy Neighbor! :)
