Opinion on light

I have my orchids facing East in front of my patio doors. In the morning the plants getting direct sunlight for 3-4 hours.
Is this OK for the plants or I need to screen them somehow?

Your plants will do just fine over next to the door in the pic. I would give caution to giving direct light.

I would watch for reddish coloring on the leaves as they react to too much light. Have they been in this spot long? They look pretty happy.

That should be fine. The Journal of the International Phalaenopsis Alliance recommends giving phals some direct sun in the morning. I like mine to be out of the direct sun by 11 AM or maybe even a little earlier in the summer when the light is stronger.

I agree with Dave's comment above that you should keep an eye out for any reddish colour on the upper-side of the leaves.

I also have my Phals and my Paph in an East facing window and they get a couple of hours of morning light before I put up some sun screens. So far they seem to love it. This early in spring (here in Sweden) it works fine doing as I do I think, but later on I'll have to get out of bed earlier to block the sunlight out, otherwise I'll have a pretty crispy collection when I get home from work... :p

One of the plants has the reddish colour on the part where one pair of the leaves meet the main plant. But this was from long time, maybe year ago. I put this one where it will receive the least amount of light. They have been in this spot for 2-3 weeks.
We like the table but we have to be very careful since the front side is rounded. The flooring is Brazilian tiger wood. It fits perfectly into decor of the house.

Do you think that I need to instal some curtains to shield the plants from the sun.

I actually plan to screen them a bit in the summer as they will be exposed to the sunlight more in a months to come.

When you have a nice view with great light from wonderful large windows, hate to curtain them. Loving the sun!

You must grow vandas in that light...as long as by 11am your sunlight is not directly at the plants then youre fine.
you have a climate controlled airconditioning so the plants wont get to be so hot...the glassdoors will be a magnifying glass effect on the plants at 11am to 3pm ...but from daybreak to 11am...your plants will love the direct sun.

Do as other have suggested.... Watch for redding on newer leaves... If you feel the leaves while the sun is shining on the plants and there warm than you may want to consider door treatments. If you want to keep it there. To the right of the doors is a perfect spot.
