Paph with a Florida sunburn or sun tan???
 

Here are some photos of a paph that was doing great inside the house and the bloom lasted for quite a while. When I put it outside on my new orchid bench this is what it looks like now. Is it brown just because it's getting too much sun? Is it at the point of no return? What can I do, if anything at this time to resurrect my favorite orchid (slipper orchids)? Thanks!

yes it got fried..goodness the sun is very harsh and bright already..added there is no cooling off at night and the humidity has been very low it ifs not raining or muggy and foggy. death to paphs is direct sun. Im sorry but I fear that plant may be beyond repairing with anything but time ..lots of time and tender care. Its not dead yet but its hurting..

The sun is killer right now and its going to get worse and has burned some of my things I just put out in the morning sun. I had to put 60% shade cloth up on my plants outside. I'm not so kind to my fried orchids.

you can give orchids more sun if there is lots of air and cooling moisture. the tender leafs cant take being overheated at all. the plants we buy some time grown in greenhouses are very soft plants. you can toughen em up slowly overtime and give them more light, but right from the front room into equatorial type exposure is going to spell death most of the time.

Give it more shade... It looks a bit crispy to me:).

Definately sunburn. The plant will probably recover although the damaged leaves will stay that way. I've sunburned some orchids and they all survived. Paphs shouldn't be getting any direct sun except maybe in the early morning. The direction of the sun moves so much, down here in Florida, that one day it's in the shade and a week later that's a sunny area. Good luck.

Should I bring them back in the house? I just bought an orchid bench to get them out of the house and in an easily accessible place to water/fertilize. I also have cattalayas, oncidium, maxilla, vandas and maybe an unidentified one or two. I'm very new to this and very green (sorry for the pun!). Any help is appreciated.

If it was doing well inside, I would put it back inside. The cattleyas, oncidium and vandas all require brighter light than the paph can handle. I have a seperate orchid bench in a shaddy area for paphs and phals.
