Culture for paph compots
I somehow find myself the proud owner of 3 new compots of paphs. One is Prince Edward of York, another is Michael Koopowitz and the last is Ken Ichi Tayaka (a phillipininense cross). I have a t5 approx. 20 inches above the compots, temp ranges from min 20 to 30 degrees and humidity from 55 to 70 or higher depending on where I'm at with watering. For those that have successfully done this before, are these conditions ok so far? Do I fertilize...if so diluted probably and not all that frequently....water once or twice a week? Thanks in advance for any tips.

Your conditions sound just fine. I would go light on the fertilizer until they get to a halfway decent size. You don't want to burn them. Pure water cut with 10-20% tap water should be ok. Maybe very dilute fert once every 2 or so weeks when they start taking off this summer.
Thats a nice group you got! Bill |
Thanks Bill. I'm hoping I will make out ok. I use rain water only for the majority of my watering, so should be ok there. I think they were deflasked in December 2010, so they have a good start. Seller advised to move to individ pots or 2 per depending on size in about 6 months or so. I'll be back asking questions if/when the need arises.
