Are they going to live?

Today I received my plants after 15 days of shipping.
x Zygoneria x Zygopetalum 'Bärbel Höhn' x Brassostele Summit 'French Town' x Brassocattleya Binosa 'Wabush Valley' They don't seem to be in the best condition. I would appreciate any help. |
Check to see if they are packed in sphagnum and if it is moist. If neither is true, I'd water them good as a lot of my orchids are in active root growth stage or just starting it. I'd keep the light reduced a bit for now and slowly acclimate them to the appropriate light. I also would not repot unless you suspect root rot in which case you would lose the plant anyway if not repotted. Once you see active root growth, then repot.
I had a Vanda in shipping for a bit over two weeks and it sulked after I get it late last year, but now there are some great thick roots growing. |
The thing is the bulbs seem dehydrated so i already watered them and i ve placed them near a window with moderate sunlight. Two of the plants spiked but the spikes don't seem in good condition. Also the x Brassostele Summit seems to be in the worst state. I'm afraid of a virus since the leeves have black spots and are rather yellowish on some parts with something like a yellow pattern on them! Thanks for the sunlight and repotting advice!

Keep suspected viruses plants away from others until you know for sure.

Yes i have already isolated the Adaglossum that i suspect is carrying the Virus and i already send email to the Orchidshop in Germany with Fotos so that they might replace it or whatever.

I can't really see the wrinkles in the pseudobulbs on any of them. If you can also provide photos of the pseudobulbs up close, that'd help.
I recommend trying to locate an affordable viral test kit to really know if your Brassostele is truly infected with a virus or not. Everything else looks fine. The black streaks you see on the leaves of your Bc. are not signs of virus, they are healed over scars from physical damage, nothing to worry about. If you're unsure, however, you may want to test them out and see if they are infected with a virus. As far as I know, I don't think it is. |

Hi and thanks for the reply i'm adding the pictures of the wrinkled bulbs.

I wouldn't worry too much about those pseudobulbs. If they do plump up again, it won't be by much anyways. There will be some wrinkling as the pseudobulbs age.
