Weird Question
 

Hey!!

So I was wondering something that will sound peculiar but still I suppose a very valid question.

My boyfriend is a Psy-Trance DJ... and I have two mini phals on the table he mixes on, right beside one of the speakers and his bass is underneath the table.

What my question is, do phals cope well with strong vibrations?? Not sure if the shaking travelling up their pots is something they feel as a disturbance.

ROFL!!!! I would think the constant jarring would not be good as they do not experience this in nature, other than wind and occasional earthquake. I'd think that in bloom cycle it would eventually knock off the buds/blooms.

I wonder if psytrance (good choice in music. :D) has an effect on plants like some classical music is purported to.

If the system is really big, you might find you can shake the flowers right off. Other than that, I don't think vibrations will be that bad for them. If it's him practicing at home, I suspect the effects on neighbours will be more pronounced than on the plants. I once managed to annoy a neighbour about 200m away with a small 2.1 sound system. I wonder what they would have made of the ~3.6kW PA I have now?

I don't know that plants have any way of sensing vibrations (although some such as Mimosa pudica can sense being touched). I imagine you can keep an eye on the plants, and if they suffer, you have your answer.

If he was a Dubstep DJ, the plants would already be dead. That music is toxic. :D

That is a very interesting topic! I remember reading about influence that music has on plants. That is, because I'm a musician. So, I play piano for hours in my room- orchids are also there- and some of them are even on the instrument. The vibration itself does not disturb the plants. Of course, I play classical music which is a lot gentler...
But I firmly believe my music does something to these plants. If somebody could scientifically explain the process that would be great, but I think it's not yet possible.

They describe psytrance as:
